As you probably already know, Mangave succulents are not only larger than most succulents but they are also super fast growers and have a pretty unique look.

So maybe you have one yourself and don’t feel like buying another one but instead just want to propagate Mangave to save you the trouble.

Luckily it is possible to propagate Mangave succulents although there are only a few methods to do so.

So if you’re here to learn more about Mangave propagation and the methods to do it successfully then let’s go ahead and get started.

How to propagate Mangave from offsets

The most common of ways to propagate Mangave succulents is by using offsets as with most succulents.

So if you’ve been caring for your Managave plant for some time, you will most likely have seen some offsets or pups forming around the base of your succulent.

This is good as you obviously know what you’re doing and have been taking good care of your Mangave succulent but now it is time to put those offsets to good use.

The first step in this process is to brush away any soil that may be covering your offsets so you can see what you’re doing when getting ready to transplant your Mangave pups.

When dividing Mangave pups you will want the roots visible so you can gently twist them and pull them off the main succulent.

You can also use a clean sharp knife if the roots are super tough to pull apart, but this is always a good sign of healthy strong roots which is useful when propagating Mangave from offsets.

So now that you have divided some Mangave offsets, you will need to leave the pups out to dry and callus for a few days.

The best place to leave them is in a spot where they get plenty of indirect sunlight so they have the best chance to dry and heal fully.

Once the offsets are healed you can go ahead and prepare a container with high quality succulent and cactus soil then get the soil pretty moist but not entirely soaked.

Now just plant the roots slightly into the soil while leaving the Mangave offset sitting firmly on top of the soil.

From here you will want that container in a place where it still gets a good amount of indirect sunlight or light in general as long as it’s not direct or intense.

Also mist or lightly water the soil when it starts to become really dry and only when it’s becoming dry so you don’t over water your Mangave and cause problems for your offsets.

Now just continue to follow these steps for the next few weeks and you will notice your Mangave pups will have pretty strong roots forming which means you have been successful.

Once your Mangave has developed super strong roots, your succulent will be ready to be re-potted or placed in another container to resume normal care protocol.

That’s really all there is to it when it comes to propagating Mangave pups.

Pour Conclure

So there you have it, propagating Mangave from offsets will be the main method of propagation for Mangave and really the only method you will need to use.

As for other Mangave propagation methods I may discuss them in the future but for now offsets are the way to go.
